This week we have met up with seven brides for consultations, and it has really got me thinking about how we go about it. Many brides seem a little bit nervous when they arrive, as if they aren’t quite sure what will happen, and they often leave saying that was great, and a lot easier than they had thought. So this is why I am writing this post to try and give prospective brides a better idea of what happens at the consultation.
Firstly can I clear up some of the main worries-
Our initial consultations are always free.
There is no hard sell, or expectation to use our service.
We use your ideas, to come up with designs specific to your needs, we never push for our own ideas, we really believe that your wedding day is exactly that; your day, and that it should revolve around your ideas.
We price every item individually, so you can pick and choose which ones you want, we are very clear about our pricing and delivery/set up costs, nothing is ever hidden or added on at the last minute, unless of course you wish to add extra flowers or change the order.
We always offer the best prices we can.
How we offer our wedding flower consultations
Firstly you, the bride, gets in touch with us, via the website www.theflowerfarm.co.uk
We have an enquiry form on there under Contact which asks for basic details such as your wedding date and venue.
Then we check our diary to ensure we still have your date available, there is no point in wasting your time with our detailed questionnaire or a consultation if we cant fit in your wedding.
Next we will send out a detailed questionnaire asking for more in depth information about your flowers, from which we will send you a fully itemised quote. If you are happy with the quote, and want to then speak to us in person (some brides don’t, and would rather continue via email which is absolutely fine) we can book you in for a consultation, we only do them by appointment so you can be assured that you will get all of our attention, there will be no one else calling in at the same time. We can do them during weekdays and some Saturdays when we aren’t out setting up a wedding. We are flexible and very happy to fit around you. We usually suggest you come to our workshop, but we can also come to your home or meet at your wedding venue. Please feel free to bring the groom along, your parents, children, bridesmaids etc. But as we haven’t a huge consultation area, so please can you let us know if there are likely to be more than 2 of you.
When you arrive, turn up our farm road opposite Brandreth Barn B&B’s entrance, go about 50m, over the speed bump and we are the next property on the left, you will see our blue/green workshop in the garden. You can park next to the house.
We welcome every bride with tea, coffee and usually a slice or two of cake! We want you to feel relaxed and at home when you come to see us. We have a large selection of books, showing our own wedding flowers and other books which we feel reflect our style of floral design, which we leave you to look through whilst we brew up!
After tea and cake and a general chat, we start to work through your requirements, we have a form which we fill in with all the details you give us, looking at everything from your bridal bouquet, to the buttonholes, table flowers, cake flowers and everything else. It is great at this point if you have done your homework and put together any ideas of things you like the look of, (a pinterest board is a great idea) https://uk.pinterest.com/theflowerfarmuk/
but don’t worry if you don’t have any set ideas, we can discuss what you like, and what you don’t like, and put together some great flowery ideas.
We talk about the different flowers available at your chosen time of year, if you use seasonal flowers you can be assured you will be getting great value for money and the best quality. We do try to use our home grown flowers where ever possible (if you book early enough, we can even grow flowers specifically for your wedding), but we are also very happy to use any imported flowers that you particularly like.
We also discuss logistics, some brides prefer to collect everything from us, and others we deliver, we cover the whole of Lancashire, Merseyside and parts of Cumbria, the Lake District and Cheshire too. We are very clear about delivery charges, we never hide anything, everything is clearly priced on your quote.
After the consultation is over, we go through your requirements, and put together a detailed quote which we email to you within a couple of days for you to look through and ask any questions that may arise. We then ask that if you wish to go ahead, for a £50 deposit to secure your date, with the remaining balance due two weeks before, which is also the cut off point for any alterations to the order. In the mean time you are very welcome to tweak things, change colours etc as much as you want.
I really hope this post will help you to get a good feel for the service we offer, and look forward to welcoming you to The Flower Farm soon.
